Recover storage space of Flash disks or Secure Digital Card (SD)

Bought a 2gb usb flash disk and suddenly it turned 1gb? You can use Diskpart command to recover unallocated space.

For XP users, you must log in to an account with Admin Privileges. Then go to Start. Click run, type cmd. For Win 7/8 users, Go to Start, type cmd in the search bar. Right click the result and choose Run As Admin.

Now you're in cmd. Type:

select disk 1 (assuming your fd/sd is in number 1 according to the list)
create partition primary

It should look like this:

Microsoft DiskPart version 6.2.9200

Copyright (C) 1999-2012 Microsoft Corporation.
On computer: COMPUTER

DISKPART> list disk

Disk ###  Status         Size     Free     Dyn  Gpt
  --------  -------------  -------  -------  ---  ---
  Disk 0    Online          160 GB      0 B
  Disk 1    Online         2 GB          0 MB

DISKPART> select disk 1

Disk 1 is now the selected disk.

DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.

DISKPART> create partition primary

DiskPart succeeded in creating the specified partition.

Then format your fd/sd in My Computer / Computer window. Right click your fd/sd and choose format. Click Start.
